As a part of my pastoral graduate summer internship this summer I read Hugh Halter and Matt Smay’s book called, “The Tangible Kingdom: Creating Incarnational Community – The Posture and Practices of Ancient Church Now.” It’s their true story of the Adullam church plant in Denver Colorado along with its best lessons and practices.

Would Adullam call themselves a church? Yes. But they prefer to call themselves the Adullam Communities and they meet in villages, which are small groups of people in non-church settings that meet to do various activities. These guys are not emergent, but they do share some emergent sympathies. Both Brian McLaren and Mark Driscoll endorsed the book, which says a lot since Brian is very much the head of the Emergent movement and Driscoll does a pretty good job of staying Orthodox.

path to the cross of christ

As you may have noticed we’re no longer Awkward Christianity. My run at trying to publish my book “Awkward Christianity” was good but it’s time to change things up. Instead. I’ve designed a new website called “WeBlogChrist.com.”

It’s designed to be more interactive and an encouragement to get lots of people to write articles or share videos. This site is meant to be a place for us to talk about Jesus of Nazareth. Whether you grew up a believer or have always lived as far away religion as possible we welcome you. Don’t know who Christ is? Let us introduce you. Just a theologian? Let us sharpen you. Just have questions? Let us work through them together. “We” means “Everyone.”

Last December I posted a list of books I read my first semester at seminary. Although this list is not meant to act as a pre or post-seminary reading list, I want to provide it so that people have a better understanding of what books they will be reading. Here is list of all my books from my January and Spring terms. We read about 1,000 to 2,000 pages per class. This does not include all the additional articles I had to read. Although many students look at this time as a trial, I think it’s a true blessing to read so much when we probably won’t have many other chances like this throughout our ministries.

Dear American Teenager,

I don’t want you drinking underage, having sex, or doing any other “inappropriate activity” with your significant others or friends. Mostly, I seem to say this because it’s not a nice thing to do. However, ultimately, it doesn’t matter what I think. It matters what God thinks.
